The Voda Foundation is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to clean water initiates while working to bring awareness to the growing water crisis in the United States. “Unknown to most Americans, our drinking water is widely contaminated. In fact, almost everywhere, there are some contaminants in the drinking water.” NRDC.

Since the passage of the Clean Water Act in1972, access to safe water for all Americans was the goal.  Unfortunately, millions of people continue to face serious water quality issues because of contamination, deteriorating infrastructure, inadequate water treatment plants and a lack of FDA regulations safeguarding the USA’s water supply. An example is the nine-month investigation by the Guardian and Consumer Reports. The investigation found alarming levels of forever chemicals, arsenic and lead in samples taken across the US. Water pollution directly puts the American population at risk. In 2018, the NRDC found that more than 30 million Americans, nearly 10 percent of the country’s population, drank from sources that violated the EPA’s federal regulations.

Voda was founded by Lona Grosshart after discovering the water was contaminated on her family farm with deadly toxins from a nearby coal plant, which led to serious illness.  Dustin Rourke joined Voda shortly after the launch. Lona and Dustin met in Los Angeles while both were working in the art world, hosting numerous exhibitions in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. After the economy collapsed in 2008, Dustin returned to his home state of Michigan where he currently lives producing and designing some of the largest events in Michigan while remaining Director of Voda.

Lona, Dustin and the Voda team are dedicated to being a part of the clean water solution for all Americans. The Voda family is extremely grateful to all of the volunteers, artists, and donors who support the mission with enormous gratitude to Voda’s major donor, The Schick Foundation.
