PROTECT ME.
Voda Foundation is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to protecting water for the lives of Americans through needed initiatives.
OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
The homeless are the most vulnerable population in America. We are working to protect them with one of the most important resources – clean water.
To protect yourself and others from the virus, the number one rule: wash your hands with soap and water multiple times per day. For the homeless, this is next to impossible. Voda’s response is to place portable hand-washing stations in communities where our most vulnerable reside. The portable sink features a 5-gallon water tank, a soap dispenser, and a manual foot pump. Each sink needs to be maintained throughout the day including refilling the water, soap and sanitizing. Your gift will help save lives by preventing the spread of COVID-19. We are very grateful for your support.
PROTECTING WATER
To put it bluntly, we must have clean water to survive. There are numerous causes of water pollution, which are exacerbated by air and soil pollution.
According to the most recent EPA survey of water quality in the United States, nearly half of our rivers and streams and more than one-third of our lakes are polluted and unfit for swimming, fishing, and drinking.
In humans, drinking or consuming polluted water in any way has many disastrous effects on our health. The United States has the seventh highest number of pollution related deaths in the world. The Global Alliance on Health and Pollution estimated 196,930 Americans lost their lives prematurely to pollution in 2017.
A 2017 Lancet study revealed that pollution is the largest environmental cause of disease and death in the world today, responsible for an estimated 9 million premature deaths. Every year, unsafe water sickens about 1 billion people. Globally, dirty water causes the death of a human being every 10 seconds. Here is the Global Counter.

TARGETED INITIATIVES
THIRST FOR JUSTICE
A powerful award-winning documentary produced by BBC’s Leana Hosea exposing dirty water in America.
You might think America is a democracy, where freedom of speech and basic rights are guaranteed. But at its heart, there is a great injustice. Against all the odds several extraordinary citizens are banding together and fighting back for their basic right to clean water. Armed only with facts and their illnesses, they risk arrest to take on the might of industry and government. From Flint to the Navajo Nation, via Standing Rock, this is their story.
Share Your Story.
In order to identify the magnitude of water pollution across the USA, Voda is asking you to share your water issues.
Submissions are encrypted.
After Voda’s founder discovered that a multi billion dollar public energy company was contaminating the ground water with toxins from coal ash, she was scared to speak out at first. Therefore, we understand your fears and your courage. If you prefer to speak with us instead of submitting your story, please call us at (800) XXX-XXXX.
WATER TESTING
The need for independent testing of America’s water is necessary now more than ever.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is actively rolling back regulations that protect air, land and water in the United States. These actions make it more critical than ever to protect our health and environment from pollution. Voda is finding ways to partner with groups and using our own resources to test water in areas of the US that are seen as at-risk for contamination. When pollutants are discovered, Voda will alert the communities that are being contaminated and provide guidance on what to do next. The lack of government oversight and the dismantling of the EPA has made this core initiative more important than ever to protect human health and the environment.
EDUCATION
The focus of water pollution education is to equip learners with knowledge, awareness, and skills that promote protection and conservation of our bodies of water.
Water pollution in the United States is a growing issue. The contaminates entering US waterways are jeopardizing our health and environment. According to the most recent surveys on national water quality from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, nearly half of our rivers and streams and more than one-third of our lakes are polluted and unfit for swimming, fishing, and drinking. Many Americans rely on well water that draws freshwater from ground water and / or aquifers. Multiple studies confirm contaminates — from pesticides and fertilizers through chemicals to coal ash—leach and make their way into the groundwater / aquifers, which causes these freshwater sources unsafe for human use. The first comprehensive, nation study of coal ash pollution by the Environmental Integrity Project is shocking. The study revealed unsafe levels of toxic pollutants in groundwater from coal ash at 91% of 265 sites across United States. Here is a link to the EIP Study
Through education and outreach, Voda helps to create a better understanding of the need to protect our water resources while fostering positive change.

AWARENESS THROUGH ART
Art has always been so powerful — It provokes every one of our senses and it makes us think about its purpose.
Immersive art, in principle, has a simple definition — it’s the creation of a world around the person in a way that makes them feel part of and inside of it. At Voda we are in a unique position to plan events like this. Our founders are both seasoned veterans in both the art world and event design, planning and execution. Given the current situation we are in with the pandemic all of our in-person events are currently on hold until social distancing guidelines are lifted. In the meantime we have an active call for photos. We want your water photos. Whether it be a pristine mountain stream or polluted water, help us raise awareness by submitting your water photos today!
